One of the things I like about 404 Media is that the people who own it are also the journalists who investigate, the editors who edit, and sometimes – when the mood takes them – the opinion writers who opine. There is no "view from nowhere", they're always very clearly coming from somewhere personal. In this case, Jason Koebler draws some parallels between his father (who gave many hours of his life to the Washington Post as a printer) and himself (who gave many hours to VICE News as a journalist). In both cases their work was unappreciated by the ownership class.
